The British car
manufacturer Lotus owes its reputation for performance, perhaps most of all,
to the small roadster it produced from 1958 to 1973. With its speed, beauty
and agility, the Seven conquered the hearts and minds of all automobile
lovers, particularly those lucky enough to get behind the wheel. Over
fifteen years, its racing bloodlines made it one of the most exciting cars
on the road. Yet, production of the “Seven” continues today through other
car manufacturers, as detailed in Dennis Ortenburger’s new book “Lotus Seven
& the Independents” (2004). With almost a half century of life the Seven is
rich in history and nostalgia, and will forever, with its quiet charm but
powerful personality, remain a part of automobile history. The Seven has
also found a very special place in the Vignoles Family. This website
chronicles the history of Lotus, its famous roadster, and the Seven’s
influence in my family. |
